Our story
Options on 8 Pregnancy Resource Center has been serving women for over 35 years. Our dedicated staff is the backbone of our pregnancy care center. We believe that there’s a positive future for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.
We serve Burnett, Polk, and northern St. Croix counties in Wisconsin. Our non-profit is based on five pillars: Honesty, Integrity, Compassion, Respect, and Kindness. We provide emotional, spiritual, educational, and material support for women with unplanned pregnancies. All our services are free and confidential, thanks to our donors. We do not receive any government funding.

Our services are provided to clients without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, disability, or other arbitrary circumstances. Options on 8 Pregnancy Resource Center is non-profit, pro-woman, and committed to our clients.
Who we are

On May 26, 2018, former director Karen Mickelson brought a little gold lamp to the pregnancy center and placed it near the front door of the office. She intended that it would be a welcoming light, a sign of presence.
It became more.
The lamp was never turned off, never unplugged, and the bulb never replaced. Yet, it shone day and night, seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
It became a symbol of hope.
The lamp continued to shine steadily until February 11, 2023, when it was unplugged and transported to our new home at 2048 Highway 8, where it now shines on the crest of the St. Croix River valley, a light on the hill.
