This page is here to help you find trusted local and state resources for life’s everyday needs and bigger challenges. Polk County Child Protective Services

Child Protective Services (CPS) helps keep children safe by responding to concerns about abuse or neglect. When a report is made, CPS reviews the situation and, if needed, works directly with families to assess safety and provide support. Their goal is to help children remain safely at home whenever possible by connecting families with resources and services. If a child’s safety is at risk, CPS may involve the court to ensure appropriate care and protection.

Polk County Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) supports older adults and adults with disabilities who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation. When a concern is reported, APS reviews the situation and works with the individual to assess safety and connect them with helpful services and resources. Their goal is to promote safety, independence, and well-being, helping people remain in their homes and communities whenever possible. In some cases, APS may involve additional supports or legal protections to ensure a person’s safety.
